Cafe Michelangelo

We have an amusing story associated with this project, because the realization of this order was anything but ordinary. I met the future investor - a real Italian - on the market square in Stuttgart. We sympathized with each other, ate and drank wine together and in conversation we realized that one of us was offering something that the other was looking for. Namely, the interior design of a café and a plan was made late at night.

The seating area of his restaurant was to be something special and an existing old Biedermeier sofa was to be the focal point. To fill the dimensions of this room, I suggested upholstering the sofa and then dividing it up to insert a piece of "modernity" in between. The result was a harmonious combination of old and new in which the white leather contrasts elegantly with the dark wooden elements. Eight people can now sit on this sofa, which was once made for three.

Flexibility was also required when it came to varying the table size. We solved the problem with leather-covered inserts in a light look, which can be inserted between the dark wooden tables as required and then create a chessboard pattern.
In the years that followed, we were active again and again, upholstering and refurbishing the existing seating to match the new color design. An old cinema bench also found a new home here. Over the course of time, this became a never-ending story...
